The Game: The Bison will travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to play TCU on Tuesday, Dec. 22, for the final scheduled non-conference game of this season.
Tuesday, Dec. 22 at TCU 8 p.m. ESPNU
Where to Watch: Tuesday's game will be broadcast on ESPNU and available on the ESPN app.
Radio: Jeff Culhane will call the game on 107.9 The Fox, Bison 1660, and 94.5 KDLB in Detroit Lakes, Minn., as well as being streamed on the 107.9 The Fox app, the Bison 1660 app, and on GoBison.com/allaccess. Bison 1660 is also now available on TuneIn.
The Series: North Dakota State and TCU have never met in men's basketball.
Sammy Hoops: Prior to last week's games at the Dakota Showcase in Sioux Falls, Sam Griesel had only led the Bison in scoring one time in his career. He did it twice in that three-game event – against South Dakota State on Dec. 10, and against North Dakota on Dec. 12.
Shoot Your Shot: NDSU's field goal percentage increased significantly in its three games at the Dakota Showcase. After shooting 34 percent as a team through the first four games of the season, the Bison shot 46 percent for their three games in Sioux Falls on Dec. 10-12.
Big Three: Through seven games this season, NDSU has received an extremely balanced scoring contribution from upperclassmen Rocky Kreuser, Tyree Eady and Sam Griesel. Kreuser has scored 82 points (11.7 ppg), Eady has 81 points (11.6 ppg), and Griesel has added 79 points (11.3 ppg).
Learning On The Go: Sophomores Jarius Cook and Maleeck Harden-Hayes have already played more minutes this season than they did in their entire freshman campaigns. Cook has logged 191 minutes in seven games this year, topping the 187 he played in the 2018-19 season before taking a redshirt year. Harden-Hayes has played 169 minutes in six games this season, surpassing the 161 he played as a freshman last year.
Second Big 12 Opponent This Season: The Bison led for more than 28 minutes and held a three-point advantage late in the game, but No. 7-ranked Kansas rallied and ultimately escaped with a 65-61 victory on Dec. 5 at Allen Fieldhouse.
The Bison led 61-58 following a free throw by freshman Dezmond McKinney with 3:57 remaining, but the Jayhawks scored the final seven points of the contest. Five of Kansas's final seven points came at the free throw line.
Aside from ties at 51-51 and 58-58, NDSU led from 17:52 until 1:20 remaining in the game.
Challenging Stretch: With games at No. 11 Creighton and No. 7 Kansas in a six-day span, the Bison played back-to-back nationally ranked opponents for the first time since opening the 2014-15 season at No. 10 Texas and No. 25 Iowa on Nov. 14-17, 2014.
Slim Margin: The 11-point final margin at Creighton on Nov. 29 was NDSU's closest against a nationally ranked opponent since falling 75-65 at No. 10/11 USC on Nov. 13, 2017. The Bison then lost by just four points at No. 7 Kansas six days later.
Second Chance Opportunities: NDSU's 22 offensive rebounds at Nebraska on Nov. 28 were its most against a Division I opponent since 2010. The Bison converted those boards into 27 second-chance points vs. the Huskers.
Back for More: The Bison finished 25-8 overall and went 13-3 in The Summit League last season, winning the Summit League Tournament with an 89-53 victory over North Dakota in the championship game on March 10.
Continued Success: Head coach David Richman has led the Bison to a mark of 121-75 through six seasons at the helm of the program. NDSU has claimed two Summit League regular season titles, three Summit League Tournament titles, and three NCAA Tournament berths in his six seasons.
The Bison are 12-3 in the Summit League Tournament under Richman.
Title Talk: NDSU has won five Summit League Tournament crowns in 12 seasons as a full member of the league -- 2009, 2014, 2015, 2019 and 2020.
