NDSU Women's Golf Opens Spring Season in Arizona

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The North Dakota State women's golf team kicked off the spring season Saturday at the Grand Canyon Invitational. The Bison are in 13th place after the opening round.
NDSU shot a 317 in the first round. Grand Canyon has the lead after the opening round with a one-under 287. Grand Canyon's Alexis Linam holds the individual lead with a four-under 68.
Alexis Thomas and Sierra Bennion led the way for the Bison, as they are both tied for 41st after shooting an opening round 77. Thomas had a birdie on the 16th hole. Lexi Geolat is in 67th place with an opening round 81. Geolat had a pair of birdies in the first round.
Taylor McCorkle and Camryn Roadley are tied for 72nd, after they both shot an 82 in the first round. McCorkle had a pair of birdies, while Roadley birdied the seventh hole.
Playing as an individual, Maddie Herzog is tied for 13th. Herzog shot a 73, including a birdie on the 10th hole.
Play will resume Sunday morning. Originally scheduled for 54 holes, weather has cut it down to a 36-hole meet.
