MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The North Dakota State baseball team scored four runs in the final two innings Tuesday night, as the Bison beat Minnesota 7-4 at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The victory was the second in three games against the Golden Gophers at U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. NDSU improved to 6-7 on the year with its fourth-straight win, while the Gophers dropped to 5-7. The Bison will return to action on Friday, as they open a four-game series at Northern Colorado.
Brock Anderson and Tucker Rohde each had two hits for the Bison, while Peter Brookshaw scored three runs. Rohde drove in three runs, while Nick Emanuel drove in a pair.
Anderson earned the start on the mound, striking out a pair in two innings. Tristen Roehrich and Jake Drew each strike out one. Parker Harm earned the victory, as he struck out four without allowing a run in two innings. Gabe Pilla picked up his second save of the season, striking out one in the last two innings.
The Bison opened the scoring in the top of the first inning as Rohde singled to right field to bring in Bennett Hostetler. The Gophers took the lead in the second with a pair of runs, but it didn't last as Rohde doubled to right in the top of the third to bring in Hostetler and Brookshaw for a 3-2 NDSU lead. The Gophers took the lead back in the bottom of the third with a pair of runs, but it would be the final runs of the game for Minnesota. Emanuel singled to right center in the eighth to bring in Rohde and Hostetler to give NDSU the lead. Tyler Silva and Zach Solano each drew a bases loaded walk with two outs in the ninth inning to add a pair of insurance runs for the Bison.
