Talley’s Shot Put, Roder’s 400m Dash Highlight Bison Men at UND Open

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team competed at the UND Open on Saturday, where the Bison performances were headlined by a huge mark in the shot put and one of the fastest 400m dashes in NDSU's indoor history.
Senior Alex Talley launched 67-04.75 (20.54m) to win the shot put, ranking third in the NCAA this season. A new personal-best by 2 feet, 3 inches, Talley moved up to No. 2 all-time at NDSU behind only Bison legend Payton Otterdahl in the event.
Bison senior Cody Roder clocked a career-best 47.78 to win the 400m dash, moving up to fourth on NDSU's all-time indoor list.
Junior Jacob Rodin ran the second-fastest 800m of his career, winning in 1:51.20 to move to 23rd on the NCAA performance list this season. Beau Brannan ran 1:54.03 for runner-up honors and the second-fastest time of his indoor career.
Josh Samyn clocked a personal-best by nearly two seconds to win the mile, finishing in 4:12.98.
The Bison men finished 1-2-3-4-6-7 in the shot put. Trevor Otterdahl threw 60-05.25 (18.42m) for third place, just two centimeters off his personal-best.
Trevor Otterdahl (68-01.75 / 20.77m) and Maxwell Otterdahl (63-00.75 / 19.22m) finished 1-2 in the weight throw.
Senior sprinter Alex Brosseau won the 200m dash in 22.08, and Jacob Levin was second in an indoor personal-best 22.33.
Brandon Lewis took runner-up honors in the long jump with a mark of 23-01.75 (7.05m).
Noah Shafer took second in the pole vault, clearing 15-11 (4.85m). Jens Christensen was third at 15-5 (4.70m).
The Bison will compete at home on Friday, Feb. 5, and Saturday, Feb. 6.
