Indoor: First Team All-American in the shot put, placing 8th at the NCAA Indoor Championships … Indoor shot put personal-best of 64-06.00 (19.66m) to win the UND Tune-Up on Feb. 20 … Threw 63-09.00 (19.43m) in the shot put at the NCAA Championships … Placed 2nd in the shot put and 3rd in the weight throw at the Summit League Championships … Personal-best weight throw of 68-01.50 (20.76m) at the conference meet, ranking 5th all-time at NDSU … Ended the season ranked 4th in school history for the indoor shot put.
Outdoor (Freshman): NCAA West Preliminary Rounds qualifier in the shot put and discus … Finished 13th in the shot put at the NCAA Prelims, missing a trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships by one place … Placed 2nd in the discus, 3rd in the shot put, and 9th in the hammer at the Summit League Championships … Discus personal-best of 189-1 (57.64m) at the Rock Chalk Classic, ranking 2nd all-time at NDSU … Outdoor shot put season-best of 63-02.75 (19.27m) to rank 5th in school history.

2019-20 SEASON

Indoor (Freshman): Finished the season ranked 25th in the NCAA for the shot put … Placed 3rd in the shot put at the Summit League Indoor Championships … Season-best mark of 62-09.50 (19.14m) in the shot put at the conference meet, ranking 5th in NDSU indoor history … Season-best weight throw mark of 64-08.75 (19.73m) at Minnesota’s Jack Johnson Classic, ranking 8th all-time at NDSU … Threw 62-08.50 (19.11m) in his collegiate shot put debut at the Dakota Classic on Dec. 6.
Outdoor: Season canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic.

High School: Swept the Minnesota Class AA state titles in the shot put and discus as a senior in 2019 … Broke his older brother Payton’s Rosemount HS school records in the shot put (64-4) and discus (193-0) … Won the state title in the shot put as a junior in 2018, throwing 58-7 for the win … Claimed section titles in both the shot put and discus, and placed 7th in the discus at the state meet as a junior ... Also competed in wrestling and football. 

Personal: Son of Shannon and Cory Otterdahl ... Both older brothers, Payton and Trevor, were throwers at North Dakota State ... Payton holds the all-time collegiate record in the indoor shot put and won NCAA titles in the shot put and weight throw in 2019 ... Majoring in education.
