DENVER, Colo. – The North Dakota State men's golf team sits in eighth place after day one of the 2021 Paintbrush Invitational hosted by the University of Denver at the Colorado Golf Club.
Seven of the 11 teams competing in the event did not finish their second rounds on Monday, with play suspended due to darkness. The Bison were one of four teams to finish round two and sit at +25 headed into the third and final round on Tuesday.
After day one there are three Bison,
Brock Winter,
Nate Adams, and
Jack Johnson, tied for the top spot for NDSU at +6 through 36 holes. The trio sit in a tie for 36th.
Adams led the way for the Bison in round one, shooting an even par round of 72 with four birdies and an eagle to sit in seventh place. Adams would have just one birdie in round two, shooting a 78.
Johnson had the best second round for the Bison, as he fired a 74 with two birdies in the round. Johnson had three birdies in round one, but finished at +4 with a 76.
Winter sits tied with his teammates after back-to-back rounds of 75. Winter finished with two birdies in round one. He would not have a birdie in round two, but did card an eagle on the par-5 16
th hole.
Gavin Cronkhite also scored in both rounds for the Bison. Cronkhite had the early lead as he started out the day at -4 through the opening nine holes, but finished round one with a 73. After five birdies in round one, Cronkhite had five more birdies in round two, but finished the day with a 78 to sit at +7 in a tie for 44
th overall.
The Bison are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday with the final round set for an 8:45 a.m. start
