The North Dakota State women's and men's cross country teams will compete in the NCAA Midwest Regional in Iowa City, Iowa, on Friday, Nov. 12.
The women's six-kilometer race will begin at 11 a.m. at Ashton Cross Country Course, with the men's 10k to follow at Noon.
The NCAA Midwest Regional will feature runners from 34 teams spanning nine states (Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota).
A total of 31 teams will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Tallahassee, Fla., on Nov. 20. The top two teams at each of the nine regional meets automatically qualify, leaving 13 at-large bids. The selection process looks at each team's performance over the course of the season, along with their finish at the NCAA Regional.
Individually, 38 additional athletes per gender will qualify and the top four runners at each regional not on a qualifying team will automatically be selected.
The Bison women are ranked 13th in the Midwest in the latest regional rankings from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
