FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – North Dakota State throwers
Trevor Otterdahl and
Alex Talley both earned first team All-America honors in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday evening.

Otterdahl launched a career-best 73-05.25 (22.38m) on his final attempt to finish fourth. Talley posted a mark of 73-00.00 (22.25m) on his last throw to climb the standings and place sixth.

Otterdahl entered the meet ranked 12th in the nation, but his mark on Thursday surpassed his previous best by 13 1/2 inches.

The two combined to score eight team points for NDSU, putting the Bison men in a tie for second in the team standings after the first day of the meet.

Otterdahl and Talley became the second- and third-highest NCAA Indoor finishers ever for the Bison, trailing only two-time national champion
Payton Otterdahl.

The NDSU men have now claimed 10 All-America honors in indoor track & field at the Division I level.

The NCAA Indoor Championships continue for the Bison men Friday at 11 a.m. with Talley,
Kristoffer Thomsen, and
Maxwell Otterdahl – the youngest brother of Payton and Trevor – in the shot put. Talley was the only man in the nation this season to qualify for the NCAA Championships in both the weight throw and shot put.
