Bison Men's Golf Shoots Season-Low in Arizona

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The North Dakota State men's golf team turned in the two lowest scores of the season on Monday, as the Bison are in fourth at the Grand Canyon Invitational after the opening day.
NDSU had rounds of 286 and 287, as the Bison are fourth in the 16 team field after the opening day with a 573. NDSU is just a stroke behind Wichita State for third, four strokes behind Eastern Michigan for second and five strokes behind host Grand Canyon for the lead. Wichita State's Zac Owens and Eastern Michigan's Ty Celone are tied for the individual lead with a 139.
Nate Deziel is tied for third with a 140 after rounds of 72 and 68, a season-low for Deziel. Jack Johnson shot a 69 in the opening round and followed with a 73, as he is tied for 14th with a 142. Lucas Johnson shot a 74 in the first round and a season-low 72 in the second, as he is tied for 40th with a 146.
Brock Winter and Nate Adams are tied for 59th with a 148 after the first day. Adams shot a 74 in both rounds, while Winter shot a season-low 71 in the first round and a 77 in the second.
Playing as individuals, Jed Baranczyk is tied for 86th with a 154, while Gavin Cronkhite is tied for 90th with a 157. Baranczyk shot a season-low 74 in the first round before shooting an 80 in the second round. Cronkhite had rounds of 78 and 79.
The Bison had 20 birdies in the first round, highlighted by five from J. Johnson and four from Baranczyk. The second round featured eagles from Deziel and L. Johnson, while the team added 16 more birdies. Deziel had four birdies in the second round in addition to his eagle.
The third, and final round, is scheduled to begin at 9:45 a.m. (Central) Tuesday at the Grand Canyon Championship Course.
