NDSU Women's Golf Opens Play at BYU Spring Classic

HURRICANE, Utah - The North Dakota State women's golf team opened play on Monday at the BYU Spring Classic. The Bison are tied for 12th after the opening day.
NDSU shot a 321 in the first round and a 323 in the second round, as the Bison are tied with Wyoming with a 644. Texas Tech has the team lead after the opening day with a 581. Nevada's Victoria Gailey had rounds of 68 and 72, as she holds the lead in the individual race with a 140.
Lexi Geolat and Taylor McCorkle led the way for the Bison, as they are tied for 33rd with a 154. Geolat shot a 75 in the first round and a 79 in the second, while McCorkle had rounds of 78 and 76. Geolat and McCorkle each had three birdies in the first round, while Geolat followed with an eagle and a birdie in the second round. McCorkle had two second round birdies. Catherine Monty is tied for 71st with a 167 after rounds of 85 and 82, which included two second round birdies.
Maddie Herzog is tied for 78th with a 171 after rounds of 85 and 86. Herzog had a pair of birdies in each round. Alexis Thomas rounded out the Bison lineup, as she is in 82nd with a 174. Thomas had an 83 in the first round and a 91 in the second.
Playing as individuals, Ava Wallerich is tied for 57th, while Holly Murphy is tied for 75th. Wallerich had rounds of 80 and 81, her two best rounds as a Bison, to shoot a 161. Murphy opened with an 87 and followed it with an 82.
The third, and final round, is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m. (Central) on Tuesday at Sand Hollow Golf Course.
