Results

MACOMB, Ill. – The North Dakota State men's cross country team finished second for the fourth straight year at the Summit League Cross Country Championships on Friday, Mar. 5. The men's eight-kilometer race was held at Spring Lake Park in Macomb, Ill.

Senior Alex Bartholomay raced to a fifth-place finish to lead the Bison, crossing the line in 25:13.66. Junior Jakob Hanna (8th in a personal-best 25:37.07) and redshirt freshman Zach Johnson (9th in 25:43.23) gave NDSU three top-10 finishers.

Bison sophomore Isaac Huber finished 15th in 26:14.11 for the 8k, and sophomore Josh Samyn rounded out the NDSU team scoring in 16th place at 26:15.65.

South Dakota State won the team championships with a score of 22 points. The Bison were second with 51, and North Dakota took third with 61.

Bartholomay and Hanna both recorded the best Summit League placement of their careers.

With the NCAA Cross Country Championships postponed to the spring season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bison did not compete in the fall. Coupled with the challenges of winter weather in the Northern Plains, the Summit League Championships became the only meet on the adjusted cross country schedule.
