4/14/2021 10:43:00 AM

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University men's basketball program has added two student-athletes to its 2021 recruiting class, head coach David Richman announced Wednesday.

Andrew Kallman, a 6-foot-4 guard from Chaska, Minn., and Northern State University; and Willie Guy, a 6-foot guard from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Des Moines Area Community College, have signed to compete for the Bison.

"We are thrilled to welcome Andrew and Willie to the Bison family, and we can't wait to get to work with them," said Richman. "They will be excellent fits in our team-first culture, and we expect both to help us build on our many successes on and off the court."

Kallman (Chaska HS/Northern State University) played in 124 games over four seasons at Division II power Northern State from 2017-21. He started all 86 games over the past three seasons and averaged 8.8 points and 3.5 assists, shooting 39 percent from beyond the arc.

Kallman was named to the All-NSIC second team this year, averaging 10.2 points and 4.2 assists per game. He posted a 3.2 assist-to-turnover ratio as a junior and senior.

"Andrew's experience, versatility, and knowledge of the game make him another terrific piece for our roster," Richman said. "He will be a great addition and fit into our Bison family and culture, as we look to find ways to continue to grow and get better."

Guy (Cedar Rapids Jefferson HS/DMACC) was named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Player of the Year this week after leading DMACC to the conference title for the second year in a row. He was named to the All-Region XI second team as a freshman in 2020, and earned All-Region first team honors this season. Guy claimed Region XI Tournament MVP honors last year, helping DMACC to the region tournament title and a No. 2 national seed before the NJCAA Tournament was canceled.

As a sophomore this season, Guy is averaging 12.5 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting 39 percent from three-point range and 85 percent at the free throw line.

"Willie is a tough point guard who is a winner," said Richman. "He's a selfless teammate and servant leader who will be a great addition to our Bison basketball family."

With the one-year exceptions granted in 2020-21 due to COVID uncertainty, Kallman comes to NDSU with one season of eligibility remaining, and Guy has three seasons to play.
