NDSU Volleyball Wins Fourth Straight After Downing Nevada, 3-1

BERKELEY, Calif. – North Dakota State pushed its win streak to four matches after rolling past Nevada, 3-1, at the Cal Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Haas Pavilion.
With the win, NDSU finishes the weekend winning all three matches at the Cal Tournament and improves to 6-3 overall on the season.
Syra Tanchin paced the Bison posting a match-high 17 kills with a .355 hitting percentage. Raegen Reilly also registered her first career double-double with a match-best 43 assists and 10 digs. Michelle Glover posted a team-best seven total blocks to go along with 12 kills. Ali Hinze also tallied her third straight double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. Kaylee Hanger rounded out the top performers with a season-high 20 digs on the defensive end.
After Nevada jumped out to a 13-5 edge, NDSU rattled off eight straight points to take its first lead of the day, 14-13. The Bison went on to close out the stanza, 25-22. Tanchin totaled a match-high 11 kills in the opening set.
The Wolfpack started fast again the second frame opening up a 12-7 advantage. NDSU then battled back assembling a 4-0 run to steal the lead, 17-16, following an attack error to force a Nevada timeout. The Bison went on to close out the set, 25-22, after two kills from Alexandria Hicks and Allison Scheiwiller.
After both teams found themselves locked 7-7 in the third frame, Nevada erupted with nine straight points to open up a 16-7 edge. The Bison attempted to rally cutting the deficit down to six, 19-13, but the Wolfpack went on to steal the frame, 25-14.
Both teams exchanged points to begin the fourth set until NDSU was able to steal the momentum and open up a 18-14 edge following a service ace from Glover to force a Nevada timeout. The Bison kept their foot on the gas from there as Abby Stark also connected on a service ace to make the score 21-18. NDSU closed out the set, 25-21, and the match, 3-1.
NDSU returns to action next weekend at the Portland State Tournament in Portland, Ore. The Bison will begin play on Friday against Portland State at 9:00 p.m. CT
