GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Freshman
Mason Kindel led the North Dakota State men's cross country team in his collegiate debut Saturday morning at the UND Ron Pynn Classic.
Kindel (Bismarck Century HS) paced the Bison men in the season opener, placing fifth overall in 18:29.8 for the six-kilometer race at Ray Richards Golf Course in Grand Forks.
Sophomore
Payton Smith (18:37.9) was NDSU's No. 2 finisher in seventh place, and freshman
Tyson Mahar (East Grand Forks, Minn.) was top-10 in his collegiate debut, taking 10th in 18:49.0 for the 6k.
Bison junior
Keiser Freetly finished 14th with a time of 19:04.5, and sophomore
Jake Arason completed the team scoring for NDSU in 19:10.9 for 15th place.
North Dakota took first in the team race with 20 points, and the Bison men were second with 48 points.
The Bison men will compete next at the SDSU Classic in Brookings, S.D., on Friday, Sept. 10.
