FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's golf team will open up the 2021-22 season this week with a dual match against the University of North Dakota over two days at golf courses in the Fargo metro.
The Bison will take on North Dakota on Tuesday, September 7 at the Oxbow Country Club in a match-play event. The first tee times are set for 2 p.m. The format will feature seven matches and follow traditional match-play rules within each group.
On Thursday, September 9, the two teams will meet again at the Fargo Country Club in a stroke-play event. Thursday is set to begin at 11 a.m. and will follow a traditional stroke-play format with each team counting the four best scores on a five-golfer team.
It is the second time the Bison have hosted the event against UND. In 2019, the teams met at Oxbow Country Club, but the event was canceled due to heavy rain and lightning midway through the round.
Prior to 2019, the Bison last hosted a tournament in September of 2015, with a one-day event at the Fargo Country Club. NDSU won that season-opening tournament by one shot.
Head Coach Steve Kennedy returns six Bison from last year's roster, along with three newcomers. The Bison return All-Summit League first team honoree Nate Deziel and Summit League Newcomer of the Year Jack Johnson. Overall, the Bison return four of their top five scoring averages from last season.
