Sam Griesel scored 23 points and
Tyree Eady added a career-high 22 to lead the North Dakota State men's basketball team to a wild 84-81 win in double overtime at Western Illinois on Thursday night.

Griesel played 47 of the game's 50 minutes, and chipped in nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

NDSU improved to 10-4 in The Summit League and 18-8 overall. The Bison have now won seven of their last eight games.

The Bison held a 37-33 advantage at halftime before opening the second half with a 12-0 run to go up 49-33. The Leathernecks clawed back methodically, tying the game at 53-53 with eight minutes remaining.

The two teams ended regulation tied at 68-68 after WIU's Colton Sandage drained a pair of free throws with 20 seconds left. Sandage led the Leathernecks with 27 points and six three-pointers in the game.

Both teams scored eight points in the first overtime period, with Eady knotting it up at 76-76 on a bucket with 32 seconds remaining.

NDSU trailed 81-78 midway through the second overtime, but the Bison went on to score the final six points of the game. A basket by Griesel gave NDSU the lead with 1:22 left, and
Grant Nelson went to work for a bucket to go up 84-81. WIU missed three three-point attempts in the final 30 seconds.

NDSU owns a record of 13-4 over the past two months. The Bison play at St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
