ST. GEORGE, Utah – The North Dakota State men's golf team wrapped up the Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational on Sunday at the Sunbrook Golf Course, carding a final round 284 to move a spot up the leaderboard and finish seventh overall.
The Bison had three golfers,
Ian Simonich,
Brock Winter and
Jack Johnson, card -3 rounds of 69 on the final day of the three-day event. Simonich had five birdies and 11 pars in his round as he climbed six spots to finish in a tie for 11
th overall.
Winter carded a round of four birdies and 13 pars as he jumped 14 places to finish 15
th overall at -2, finishing with a three-day score of 214.
Johnson jumped 18 places to finish in a tie for 16
th, one shot behind Winter. Johnson was sitting at +2 for his round through 13 holes, but went on a run, carding five-straight birdies to soar up the leaderboard. He finished the day with seven birdies overall.
Nate Deziel, who played as an individual, finished sixth overall after a final round 74. Deziel held the lead after round two with rounds of 66 and 68 to begin the event.
North Dakota State will return to action on February 28 and March 1 at the Dove Mountain Intercollegiate hosted by Valpo at the Golf Club at Dove Mountain in Marana, Arizona.
