Andersons Claim Summit League Track & Field Athlete of the Week Accolades

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State swept this week's TicketSmarter Summit League Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors, league officials announced Tuesday. Jacob Rodin and Trevor Otterdahl picked up the men's track and field awards while Kelby Anderson and Amanda Anderson claimed the honors on the women's side.
 
Rodin now ranks second in NDSU history and 10th in the NCAA this season for the 500 meters after clocking a time of 1:03.10 to win at the Bison Open. His time trails only Aaron Dewald's school record of 1:02.82 set in 2000, making Rodin's winning time the fastest by a Bison in over two decades.
 
He also anchored the winning Bison 4x400m relay team to an NDSU facility record of 3:14.00. The Bison are now the new league leaders in the event and rank 31st in the nation.
 
Otterdahl moved up to No. 8 in the nation this season in the weight throw after launching a season-best mark of 72-00.75 (21.96m) to win the event at the Bison Open. He also threw a shot put personal-best of 61-10.50 (18.86m) to finish runner-up in the meet. His shot put mark ranks 28th in the country this season and sixth-best in NDSU history.
 
Kelby Anderson ran away with the 3,000-meter title at the Bison Open clocking a converted time of 9:32.55 to lead the league this season.
 
Amanda Anderson launched an indoor shot put personal-best to be the top collegiate finisher at the Bison Open. Her throw of 51-11 (15.82m) moved her up to seventh in NDSU indoor history and widened her gap as the league leader in the event. She also threw a mark of 61-06.25 (18.75m) to finish third in the weight throw.

  • Notched his third career indoor athlete of the week accolade and second this season
  • Won the weight throw with a season-best launch of 72-00.75 (21.96m)
  • Threw a personal-best mark of 61-10.50 (18.86m) in the shot put to finish runner-up
  • Ranks No. 8 in the nation in the weight throw and No. 28 in the shot put
  • Leads the league in the weight throw by nearly five feet
 
Kelby Anderson, North Dakota State

  • Earned her fourth career indoor athlete of the week award and first this season
  • Won the 3,000m with a converted time of 9:32.55
  • Currently leads the league in the event

Amanda Anderson, North Dakota State
Senior | Throws | Bethel, Minn.
  • Earned the first indoor athlete of the week honor of her career
  • Was the top collegiate finisher in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 51-11 (15.82m)
