PHOENIX, Ariz. – The North Dakota State men's golf team sits in a tie for 11th after day one of the GCU Invitational after the second round was suspended due to darkness at the GCU Championship Golf Course.
Nate Deziel and
Jack Johnson lead the way for the Bison, sitting in a tie for 60
th in the 120-golfer field. The duo sits at +3 with a handful of holes to go in the second round. Both Deziel and Johnson were +2 in the first round and currently sit +1 in the second round.
Deziel had two birdies in the first round and four in the second round. Johnson has a pair of birdies on the day and ended the evening with eight-straight pars.
Nate Adams is third for the Bison and sits in a tie for 74
th at +5 with three holes remaining in round two. Adams struggled in round one with a +9 of 80 on the par 71 course. However, Adams is -4 in round two with five birdies at the time of the round being suspended.
Brock Winter sits fourth for the Bison, while
Ian Simonich rounds out the scoring for NDSU. Winter is tied for 81
st at +6 for the day, while Simonich is tied for 100
th at +9.
The Bison currently sit in a tie for 11th in the 23-team field with three other schools. NDSU is sitting at +9. The Bison are +2 in the second round with all five NDSU golfers set to have three or four holes left in the second round when play resumes Tuesday morning.
The second round will restart at 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday with the third round beginning immediately after the close of the second round.
