RALEIGH, N.C. – Fresh off another first-team All-American performance at the NCAA Indoor Championships, North Dakota State senior thrower
Trevor Otterdahl opened his 2022 outdoor season with a shot put title at NC State's Raleigh Relays on Thursday.

Otterdahl threw an outdoor personal-best of 62-06.75 (19.07m) to win the meet, extending his previous outdoor shot put best by more than two feet. He climbed to No. 6 on the NDSU all-time list in the event.

Kristoffer Thomsen was the runner-up in the shot put with a mark of 62-05.25 (19.03m). The pair rank third and fourth in the nation, respectively, early this outdoor season.

Clayton Hannula placed 12th in the shot put at 55-00.75 (16.78m).

Matt Kraft was the top NDSU finisher in the javelin, throwing 187-8 (57.21m) for 17th place.

The Bison will continue competing on Friday and Saturday, with the throwers at North Carolina State and the jumpers and multi-event athletes at Black Hills State in Spearfish, S.D.
