Bison Track & Field Headed to Al Bortke Open in Bismarck Saturday

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University track & field teams will compete at the Al Bortke Open hosted by the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D., on Saturday, Apr. 9. The meet will begin at 11 a.m. for both running events and field events at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.
 
Joining NDSU and UMary at the meet will be MSU Moorhead, Dickinson State, Minot State, Jamestown, and Valley City State.
 
The Bison men have five marks that rank among the Top 40 in the NCAA for the outdoor season, led by senior thrower Trevor Otterdahl at No. 9 in the shot put and No. 34 in the hammer throw. Kristoffer Thomsen ranks 10th nationally in the shot put, and is joined by Clayton Hannula at No. 36 in the event.
 
The NDSU men's 4x400m relay ranks 34th in Division I this season.
 
The Bison women have five athletes ranked in the NCAA Top 40 outdoors – Amy Phillips (4th, hammer throw), Amanda Anderson (12th, discus), Kari Wolfe (14th, javelin), Alissa Melvin (21st, triple jump), and Kelby Anderson (31st, 5000m).
