EUGENE, Ore. -- North Dakota State University track athlete Jacob Rodin was named the recipient of the NCAA Elite 90 Award on Thursday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
 
The Elite 90 Award is presented to the single student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average at each of the NCAA's 90 national championships. Rodin owns a 4.0 GPA with a major in agricultural economics.
 
Rodin's honor is the 17th Elite 90 Award claimed by the Bison and the second for NDSU men's track & field, joining Benji Phillips last year.
 
Rodin and his Bison 4x400m relay teammates broke the NDSU school record for the third consecutive meet on Wednesday night at the NCAA Championships, placing 18th overall.
 
The Elite 90 Award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.
