
Bison Soccer Falls On Road At South Dakota

VERMILLION, S.D. - North Dakota State soccer suffered defeat at South Dakota on Sunday, Oct. 15, falling 2-1 to the Coyotes in Summit League play.
Despite dominating possession and much of the offense in the opening half, the Bison fell behind 2-0 in the opening minutes, as South Dakota capitalized on the only two shots that the Coyotes had in the first 45 minutes.
In the fourth minute, Ashby Johnston made a sliding effort to knock the ball past NDSU goalkeeper Abby Wilkinson on a counterattack for South Dakota. Less than seven minutes later in the 11th minute, South Dakota doubled its lead, as Taylor Ravelo would head in a corner kick.
The Bison would have 12 shots in the opening half, including five shots on goal. NDSU would get one goal back in the second half, as Gabrielle Garrett set up her twin sister Amaya Garrett, as Amaya scored her fourth goal of the season in the 65th minute.
NDSU would have just two more shots in the second half and were unable to find the equalizer. Wilkinson finished with four saves for the Bison, while Caroline Lewis had six saves for South Dakota.
The Bison will return home to Dacotah Field on Thursday, Oct. 19, as NDSU takes on Denver in the regular season finale. The game with the Pioneers is set for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff and will be streamed live on the Summit League Network, along with radio coverage on Bison 1660.
