Men’s Golf Second After Day One of Monterrey International Intercollegiate

MONTERREY, Mexico – The North Dakota State men's golf team opened the Monterrey International Intercollegiate on Friday, Oct. 27th, by posting a -20 through 27 holes of play at Club Campestre to sit in second place.
The Bison carded a round one score of 275 and are -7 at the midpoint of round two to sit at -20 after completing 27 holes. Loyola Maryland sits in first with an opening round of 272 and -8 through the first half of round two to sit at -24. Tarleton State sit at -13 overall in third, seven shots behind NDSU.
Nate Adams led the way for the Bison on day one, shooting a season best with a 67 in the opening round. Through 27 holes of play, Adams is tied for fourth place at -7, and sits one shot back of first. Adams notched 18 pars, along with eight birdies and just one bogey on the day.
Bison golfers Jack Johnson, Jake Skarperud and Ian Simonich are tied for 13th place, sitting at -4. Johnson opened round one with a season low of 68, and is even par halfway through round two.
Skarperud shot a first round of 70 and is two-under par at the midpoint of round two to match Johnson at -4. Simonich, playing as an individual, opened up with an even-par round of 72, but sits at -4 halfway through the second round.
Josh Galvin and Gavin Cronkhite are both tied for 16th place, just one shot back of the previous group of Bison at -3. Galvin shot a first round of 70 and is one under in his second round heading into the final 27 holes on Saturday. Cronkhite shot a 71 to open, before shooting two under through the opening nine of the second half.
The Bison will wrap up the Monterrey Collegiate Classic on Saturday, beginning with the final nine holes of round two before completing the final round. Tee times are set to get underway starting at 7 a.m.
