FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision against South Dakota on Saturday afternoon at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
After South Dakota (9-7, 3-2 Summit) grabbed a 2-1 advantage following the third set, NDSU (11-6, 3-3 Summit) fought back in the fourth frame opening up a 9-5 lead after back-to-back kills from
Lauren Jansen. The Bison continued to surge assembling a 6-1 run to build a 18-13 lead following another kill from Jansen. NDSU went on to close out the set, 25-16.
The Coyotes pushed back in the fifth frame running out to a 7-3 edge by the midway point. The Bison then made one final surge trimming the deficit down to two, 12-10, after
Alexis Boling delivered a kill. However, South Dakota finished the set on a 3-1 run to win the frame, 15-11, and the match, 3-2.
Jansen led the way for NDSU with a season-high 20 kills to go along with a .474 hitting percentage.
Ali Hinze recorded her fourth straight double-double with a match-high 18 digs and 16 kills.
Kelley Johnson narrowly missed a double-double of her own with a match-best 49 assists and eight digs.
NDSU will be back in action at St. Thomas on Saturday. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m.
