NDSU Heads to California for Bill Cullum Invitational

FARGO, N.D. –North Dakota State men's golf continues their season with a trip to Somis, California for the Bill Cullum Invitational, hosted by Cal State Northridge at the Saticoy Club on Monday and Tuesday.
Tournament Schedule
The tournament tees off at 10:30 a.m. CT on Monday with 36-holes scheduled to be played. The tournament continues Tuesday with the final 18 holes. Tuesday will tee off at 10:00 a.m. CT.
The Field
The Bill Cullum Invitational will see 14 teams square off at Saticoy Club this season. Along with host Cal State Northridge and the Bison, the field includes Cal State Fullerton, Cal State San Bernardino, Hawai'i, Sacramento State, Southern Utah, Stanislaus State, Temple, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, Utah State, and Weber State.

The Course
The Saticoy Club, located in Somis, California, is the premier private country club of Ventura County to the west of Los Angeles. The club has hosted many USGA Championship Qualifiers and SCGA Amateur Championships. The course, which sits on top of a low mountain ridge, was designed in 1964 by Billy Bell Jr. and went through a redesign in 2018 by Arnold Palmer Design. The tournament layout will be a par 72, 7,008-yard layout.
Bison at the Bill Cullum Invitational
The Bison will make their first appearance at the Bill Cullum Invitational. The 27-year-old tournament recently changed its name to the "The Bill Cullum Invitational" after the legendary CSUN men's golf coach. After 25 years at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley, the tournament moved to The Oaks Club at Valencia in 2021 and 2022. This year's tournament will be contested for the first time at The Saticoy Club.

- Nate Adams was named the TicketSmarter Peak Golfer of the Month for September by league officials on Thursday. He led the Bison with a 71.33 scoring average and achieved top 16 finishes in all three events this fall.
- The Bison are coming off a second-place finish at the Zach Johnson Invitational last week, led by top 20 finishes from five Bison. Gavin Cronkhite led the Bison, finishing second overall, while Jack Johnson tied for third.
- Gavin Cronkhite carded a team-best round of 66 (-5) on the season with his opening round at the Zach Johnson Invitational. Adams and Cronkhite each have carded rounds of 68 (-4) as well this season.
- Adams, who has one top-five finish this season, leads the Bison in scoring average, shooting under par with a 71.33 this season through nine rounds. Johnson is second with a 71.67 scoring average.
- The Bison are coming off their strongest scoring weekend, carding rounds of -9 and -6 at the Zach Johnson Invitational. The previous low round was a -4 at the Wildcat Fall Invitational.
Bison Competing
NDSU will take six golfers to the Bill Cullum Invitational. The Bison competing will be Nate Adams, Gavin Cronkhite, Josh Galvin, Jack Johnson, Rylin Petry, and Jake Skarperud.
Looking Ahead
Men's Golf will be back in action in two weeks at the Monterrey Invitational in Monterrey, Mexico. The event, which is hosted by George Washington University, will be held on Oct. 27-28 at the Club Campestre.
