Kelley Breaks 60m Dash School Record to Open Track & Field Season

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State sprinter Kendra Kelley broke the school record in the 60m dash and clocked the second-fastest indoor 200m dash in NDSU history, headlining the efforts of the Bison women's track & field team Friday at the Dakota Alumni Classic.  
 
In her first race of the season, Kelley improved her own NDSU record in the 60m dash, running 7.47. She won the 200m dash in a meet record time of 23.97 – the second-fastest indoor time of her career.
 
NDSU freshman Anika Larson claimed the 60m dash title, clocking 7.57 to rank fourth in NDSU history. Kelley posted her record time in the prelims, but did not race the final.
 
Senior Nell Graham won the pentathlon with a career-best 3,793 points. She moved up to fifth on the NDSU all-time list.
 
The team of Graham, Angel Pratt, Kaci Cooper and Kelley set a meet record, winning the 4x400m relay in 3:53.36.
 
The Bison women swept the top three places in the 60m hurdles, led by sophomore Sydney Arndt winning in 8.41. Salmata Korgho clocked a career-best 8.42 to place second and move up to fourth on the NDSU all-time list in the event. Freshman Marvelous Onwualo ran 8.67 for third and now ranks 10th in NDSU history.
 
Freshman Arienne Birch cleared 5-09.75 (1.77m) to win the high jump in her debut, tying for fifth-best in NDSU indoor history.
 
The NDSU women swept the top six places in the triple jump. Grace Emineth was the champion with a mark of 40-00.50 (12.20m), freshman Ella Gardner was the runner-up at 39-05.75 (12.03m), and freshman Joy Nnantah took third at 38-08.25 (11.79m).
 
Emineth also won the long jump with a leap of 19-04.75 (5.91m), and Gardner was the runner-up at 18-08.75 (5.71m).
 
Sophomore Jasmine Williams clocked 24.61 to take second place in the 200m dash behind Kelley. She moved up to ninth on the NDSU all-time indoor list.
 
Brita Birkeland won the 600m in a personal-best 1:34.62.
 
Redshirt freshman Riley Quinn won the shot put with an indoor personal-best throw of 47-00.25 (14.33m). Merrideth Spiers now ranks 11th in NDSU history for the weight throw after a big PR of 63-06.75 (19.37m).
 
Jacee Johannsen set a new indoor-best of 12-01.50 (3.70m) in the pole vault, tying teammate Julia Gherardi for second place.
 
Angel Pratt (57.59) was second in the 400m dash, and Kaci Cooper (57.77) took third.
