Knutson Breaks NDSU 300m Record, Otterdahl Posts Huge Weight Throw at Bison Open

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State senior sprinter Josh Knutson broke the school record in the 300m dash, headlining the first day of competition for the Bison men's track & field team at the Bison Open.

Knutson (Aurelia, N.D.) won the 300m in 34.13, edging teammate Adrian Harris' previous record of 34.16 set in 2020. NDSU's Jacob Levin clocked a personal-best 34.46 for second place, making him seventh-fastest in school history.

Unattached NDSU graduate Trevor Otterdahl registered a lifetime-best of 77-04.50 (23.58m) in the weight throw. Otterdahl only has one season of outdoor eligibility remaining, but if he were eligible to compete at the NCAA Championships indoors, he would be No. 2 in the NCAA this year. He also ranks third among all American men in the event this season, with plans to compete at the USATF Indoor Championships later this month.

Redshirt freshman Kaden Pastian was the top collegian in the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 65-06.25 (19.97m). Levi Rockey placed third with a personal-best 60-01.25 (18.32m).

Sophomore Zach McGlynn (2,900 points) and freshman Paul Olson (2,858) stand first and second in the heptathlon through four events on Friday. Both cleared 6-08.25 (2.04m) in the high jump.

On Saturday, the heptathlon resumes at 11 a.m. Field events begin with the long jump and shot put at 1 p.m., and track events start at 1:30 p.m.
