FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team opened competition Friday with the first day of the two-day Bison Open at the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility on campus.

Kendra Kelley won the 200m dash in 24.11, missing the NDSU facility record by only 0.18 seconds. She ranks second-fastest in NDSU indoor history for the event.

A pair of Bison freshmen placed first and second in the 300m dash, with
Jasmine Williams winning in 40.41 and
Soraya Espino taking second in 41.57.

Junior
Nell Graham scored 3,566 points to take second in the pentathlon, tying her personal-best score that ranks 10th in NDSU history. NDSU freshman
Sophia Truscott placed fourth in the pentathlon with a personal-best 3,324 points.
Bailee Dierks also posted a personal-best, scoring 3,307 for fifth place.

The Bison women won the distance medley relay in 12:07.52 with the team of
Aleah Miller,
Dreah Frolek,
Erin Valgardson and
Reagan Baesler.

Sophomore
Merrideth Spiers took second in the weight throw with a mark of 57-11.75 (17.67m). Freshman
Adison Kapitzke hit a personal-best 54-03.75 (16.55m) for seventh place.

Julia Gherardi and
Jacee Johannsen both cleared 11-03.75 (3.45m) in the pole vault to take third and fourth place.

Claire Howell placed third in the 600m, finishing in 1:37.81.

On Saturday, the men's heptathlon resumes at 11 a.m. Field events begin with the long jump and shot put at 1 p.m., and track events start at 1:30 p.m.
