
Nelson Named First Team All-Summit League, Skunberg Honorable Mention

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League announced its awards for the 2022-23 men's basketball season on Thursday afternoon, and two North Dakota State players were honored.
Junior Grant Nelson was named to the All-Summit League first team and All-Defensive Team, and junior Boden Skunberg earned honorable mention all-league recognition.
Nelson led NDSU in points (19.9 ppg), rebounds (9.8 rpg), assists (2.4 apg), blocks (1.7 bpg) and steals (1.1 spg) – both for Summit League play, and for the entire season. He was the only player in the league's top 11 for all five of those stat categories, and the only player in the league's top five for scoring and field goal percentage.
Nelson led the Summit League in rebounding and ranked second in the league for blocks. He recorded eight double-doubles in league games.
Skunberg was No. 2 on NDSU in scoring at 15.4 points per game, shooting 49 percent in league play. He was one of only three players in the league to average at least 15 points and rank top-five in field goal percentage this season. Skunberg also averaged 5.4 rebounds and shot 41 percent from three-point range in league games.
The No. 3 seed Bison will play No. 6 seed South Dakota in the quarterfinals of the Summit League Tournament on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. in Sioux Falls.
