LINCOLN, Neb. –
Jo Baranczyk and
Madi Hicks are positioned inside the top five as the North Dakota State women's golf team is tied for second place after the opening round of play at the Summit League Championship at Wilderness Golf Course on Sunday afternoon.
Baranczyk carded a 71 in the opening round and is one stroke off the lead behind Anna Zanusso (70) from Denver and Alex Kandolin (70) from South Dakota State. She hit par on 14 holes and notched two birdies to finish even on the par 71 course.
Hicks is also in the top five tied for fourth place. She reached par on 14 holes with two birdies to finish +1 with a 72.
Leah Skaar totaled two birdies and sits tied for 16th place with a score of 74, while
Catherine Monty is slotted tied for 19th place and hit par on 13 holes.
Elise Hoven closed out the group tied for 25th place with a score of 77.
As a team, NDSU registered a score of 293 and is tied with South Dakota for second place. Denver holds a seven-stroke advantage in first place after carding a score of 286 in the opening round.
The average score in the first round was 76.00.
NDSU will continue play at the Summit League Championship tomorrow.
