Mostaert on Buck Buchanan Award Watch List

FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State defensive tackle Eli Mostaert was one of 35 players in the Football Championship Subdivision named to the preseason watch list for the 2023 Buck Buchanan Award, presented by FedEx Ground and given annually to the national defensive player of the year in Division I FCS college football.
Mostaert, a senior from Lakeville, Minn., returns to the Bison lineup this year after missing 12 games during the 2022 season with a leg injury, and he has an additional year of eligibility available in 2024. He has 83 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, 13.0 sacks and three pass breakups in 30 career games.
More players can join the watch list during the regular season before a national media panel selects the winner from a group of finalists. First awarded in 1995, the Buchanan includes past recipients such as Dexter Coakley, Rashean Mathis, Jared Allen, Arthur Moats, and NDSU's Kyle Emanuel.
North Dakota State opens the season against Eastern Washington at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Saturday, Sept. 2. Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster.com.
