RIVERSIDE, Iowa - North Dakota State men's golf finished fourth overall at the Iowa Fall Classic to open up the season on Wednesday at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course.
The Bison assembled rounds of 285, 290, and 296 to finish at +7 and in fourth place at the 13-team tournament. Iowa State (-4) took the top spot with Iowa (-2) and North Alabama (+4) rounding out the top three ahead of NDSU.
Nate Adams (68-73-73—214) closed out the tournament at -2 to finish tied for fifth. He notched three birdies and 12 pars to move up three spots on the leaderboard in the final round.
Gavin Cronkhite (75-68-76—219) finished at +3 for the tournament to take second for NDSU and finish tied for 16
th place overall.
Jack Johnson (76-74-70—220) climbed up 23 spots on the leaderboard on the final day to finish tied for 19
th. Johnson had three birdies and just one bogey in his final round.
Ian Simonich (71-75-77—223) tied for 29
th, while
Jake Skarperud (71-78-77—226) finished tied for 41
st, and Ryle Petry (75-80-75—230), who made his collegiate debut yesterday, tied for 52
nd.
The average team score over three rounds of play was 295.53. The Bison finished tied for second with 54 birdies in the tournament and the team also had two eagles.
The Bison will be back in action at the Wildcat Invitational in Manhattan, Kan., on Sept. 17-18. The event, hosted by Kansas State, will be held at Colbert Hills.
