ST. LOUIS - North Dakota State claimed three of the top individual honors on the All-Missouri Valley Football Conference Team announced Monday, Dec. 2. The awards are selected by a vote of the league's head coaches, communications directors and media members.

NDSU quarterback Cam Miller was named MVFC Offensive Player of the Year and running back CharMar Brown swept the Newcomer of the Year and Freshman of the Year awards. South Dakota defensive lineman Mi'Quise Grace was named Defensive Player of the Year and USD's Bob Nielson was named Coach of the Year for the second straight season.

Miller, a senior from Solon, Iowa, is the fourth Bison player to win MVFC Offensive Player of the Year, joining quarterbacks Brock Jensen (2013), Easton Stick (2018) and Trey Lance (2019). Miller led the conference through the regular season in completion percentage (.742) and pass efficiency (179.9) and ranked second in the league with 2,340 passing yards and 23 touchdowns. He added 370 yards rushing and seven touchdowns.

Brown, from Omaha, Neb., is the sixth MVFC player to earn both Newcomer and Freshman of the Year honors in the same season, and he is the third Bison player to do so joining linebacker Jabril Cox (2017) and quarterback Trey Lance (2019). Brown led all FCS freshmen with 965 rushing yards, fifth most in the MVFC. He had four 100-yard rushing games including a season-high 126 against Towson, and he tied for third in the conference with 14 rushing touchdowns.

Miller was one of six NDSU first team all-conference picks including left tackle Grey Zabel, right tackle Mason Miller, wide receiver Bryce Lance, defensive tackle Eli Mostaert and linebacker Logan Kopp. Mostaert finished second in the voting for Defensive Player of the Year. He ranked second in MVFC play with 8.5 tackles for loss and was third with 5.0 sacks.

Brown made the All-MVFC second team along with NDSU kicker Griffin Crosa and return specialist Jackson Williams. Five Bison players earned honorable mention: safety Sam Jung, defensive tackle Kody Huisman, long snapper Caleb Bowers, fullback Truman Werremeyer and tight end Joe Stoffel.

First-year head coach Tim Polasek was second in the voting for MVFC Coach of the Year. Polasek led NDSU to a share of the conference title with a 7-1 record and went 10-2 overall to claim the No. 2 seed for the FCS playoffs.

North Dakota State is scheduled to host No. 15 seed Abilene Christian (9-4) in the second round of the NCAA Division I Football Championship at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.
