Arason, Holmes, Haugo Lead NDSU Men’s Track & Field on Thursday

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Jake Arason, Khamarly Holmes, and Michael Haugo headlined the performances of the North Dakota State men's track & field team on Thursday at a pair of meets in southern California.
 
Arason (Grand Forks, N.D.) ran a career-best 8:57.54 in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, moving him up to fifth-fastest in school history.
 
Holmes (Homestead, Fla.) clocked a career-best 52.36 in the 400m hurdles at Long Beach State, tying him for seventh-fastest in NDSU history. Redshirt freshman Carter Elde ran a personal-best 53.45 in the 400m hurdles for eighth place in the meet.
 
Haugo, a freshman from Moorhead, Minn., recorded a long jump personal-best of 24-5 (7.44m) in Long Beach, tying him for eighth in NDSU history with Bison Hall of Famer and 13-year NFL pro Tyrone Braxton.
 
NDSU's Jarod White cleared 16-11 (5.16m) in the pole vault for eighth place. Aaron Cummings and Jacob Van Dusseldorp both cleared 15-05.50 (4.71m).
 
Freshman Carlton Mukurazita jumped 46-11.75 (14.32m) for 12th place to lead the Bison men in the triple jump.
 
Cullen Curl ran 48.70 in the 400m dash to be the top NDSU finisher in the event. Freshman Jayden Williams ran 10.74 in the 100m dash.
 
Logan Mathieu was the top Bison finisher in the 110m hurdles at Long Beach State, clocking 14.63.
 
Competition will continue on Friday and Saturday for the Bison.
