
Maples’ Hammer Throw Leads Bison Women at NDSU Spring Classic

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team hosted the NDSU Spring Classic on Friday afternoon at the Terrence Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex.
Bison senior Lexi Maples threw 203-0 (61.88m) to win the hammer throw, ranking eighth in NDSU history and among the Top 30 in the NCAA this season.
Sophomore Allie Niska ran a personal-best 24.36 to win the 200m dash.
Freshman Joy Nnantah won the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 40-00.00 (12.19m). Freshman Arienne Birch took first in the high jump, clearing 5-06.50 (1.69m) in a jump-off.
NDSU sophomore Riley Quinn won the shot put with a season-best 45-05.25 (13.85m), and she also threw a personal-best 142-4 (43.38m) in the discus for third place.
Kaci Cooper won the 400m hurdles in 1:02.49, and Angel Pratt was the runner-up in 1:02.99. Brita Birkeland won the 800m in 2:13.30.
Freshman Ashley Kimman scored 4,070 points to win the heptathlon.
Ava Larsen won the 1500m in 4:56.22.
Freshman Ella Gardner placed second in the long jump with a season-best mark of 19-02.75 (5.86m), and Nnantah was fourth at 19-01.25 (5.82m).
