Bison Men Get NCAA West Preliminary Rounds Started Wednesday

The North Dakota State University men's track & field team has qualified six athletes to compete at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds held May 22-25 in Fayetteville, Ark.
The top 12 finishers in each event at the Preliminary Rounds will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 5-8. Senior Matt Kraft will be the top-ranked Bison entering the meet at No. 14 in the West for the javelin.
Kraft, Jarod White, and Cam Landis are repeat qualifiers for NDSU, while Michael Haugo, Paul Olson, and Jacob Van Dusseldorp will be making their NCAA West Prelims debuts.

How to Advance
The top 12 finishers in each event at the Preliminary Rounds will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 5-8.
In the javelin, shot put, and long jump, all 48 competitors will receive a single round of three attempts. The top 12 marks overall advance to the NCAA Championships.
In the pole vault and high jump, the final 12 athletes remaining in the competition will advance to the NCAA Championships, with a potential jump-off used if a tiebreaker for the 12th spot is needed.
