HENDERSON, Nev. – Senior
Madi Hicks paced the North Dakota State women's golf team to a third-place finish after the first two rounds of the Clash at Boulder Creek on Monday afternoon at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Hicks (71-70--141) recorded both rounds of the day under par. Hicks carded five birdies and nine holes at par in the first round to finish -1. Hicks fired another four birdies and 12 holes at par in round two to finish with a season-low round of 70 (-2). The senior sits just outside the top five in a tie for sixth at -3 overall heading into the final round of play.
Hannah Dunk (71-72--143) also sits below par after the first two rounds of the event. Dunk logged two birdies and a team-high 15 holes at par in the first round to finish -1. Dunk added another three birdies and 12 holes at par to finish at an even-par in the second round and is in a tie for 19th place at -1 overall.
Norah Roberts (72-74--146) recorded two scoring rounds for the Bison on day one. Roberts shot two birdies and 14 holes at par in the first round to finish at an even 72. The junior added three more birdies and 11 holes at par in middle round to finish +2. Roberts sits in a tie for 42nd place at +2 overall heading into the third round.
Cora Larson (71-78--149) and
Avery Bartels (77-70--147) each logged one scoring round for NDSU. Larson was -1 in the first round after firing three birdies and 13 holes at par, and +6 in the second round to finish +5 overall in a tie for 61st place. Bartels finished the first round +5 and then shot five birdies in the second round to finish -2 and sits in a tie for 47th place at +3 overall.
Jeri Lafleche (78-70--148) wraps up the Bison lineup for the event. Lafleche, who is playing as an individual, finished +6 in the first round. The freshman picked up her first collegiate round under par in the second round, firing a career-high five birdies and 10 holes at par to finish with a season-low 70 (-2) on the middle round at +4 overall in a tie for 54th place.
Together, the Bison (285-286--571) fired both rounds below par for the first time this season, logging rounds of -3 and -2. NDSU is in third at -5 overall, with hosts Northern Arizona (283-277--560) leading the 18-team pack at -16 and New Mexico State (286-277--563) just behind at -13.
The Bison will wrap up the tournament and their fall season on Tuesday morning, with the final round slated to tee off at 8 a.m. MT.
