MALIBU, Calif. – The North Dakota State women's basketball team scored 25 points in the second quarter to help pick up an 82-60 win over UTRGV at the Malibu Classic at Firestone Fieldhouse on Wednesday afternoon.
With the win, the Bison improve to 10-2 overall and extend their win streak to eight games. UTRGV drops to 4-6 (1-1 Southland) with the loss.
Karrington Asp logged her first career 20-point game with a season-best 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field. The Epworth, Iowa native also hauled in a season-high 12 rebounds for her second career double-double over 29 minutes.
Avery Koenen contributed her sixth straight double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while
Marisa Frost also reached double figures in scoring with 14 points.
As a team, the Bison shot 49.2 percent (32-65) from the field and 57.9 percent (11-19) from the free throw line. NDSU scored 44 points in the paint and the bench added in 39 points. The Bison also grabbed a season-best 50 rebounds with seven different players posting multiple rebounds.
NDSU will be back in action hosting Saint Mary's on Monday, Dec. 29. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m., at Scheels Center.
