Bison Host Denver, Omaha this Week

The Games: The North Dakota State men's basketball team (19-5, 9-0 Summit) will return home to host Denver and Omaha this week.
        Thursday, Feb. 5      vs. Denver       7 p.m. CT
        Saturday, Feb. 7       vs. Omaha       1 p.m. CT
 
Where to Watch: Both games will be broadcast locally on WDAY Xtra and streamed on the Summit League Network via the Midco Sports Plus app.
 
Radio: Sam Neidermann and Dexter Werner will call the games on 107.9 The Fox. Broadcasts can also be streamed on the NDSU Athletics app, as well as at GoBison.com/AllAccess for free.
 
Against Denver: Thursday will be the 34th meeting between NDSU and Denver dating back to the 1993-94 season. The Bison hold a 24-9 advantage in the all-time series. NDSU has won 14 of the last 16 games vs. the Pioneers.
 
Last Time vs. Denver: The Bison earned an 82-77 road win at Denver on Jan. 22. Trevian Carson scored 23 points to lead NDSU, going a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line. Markhi Strickland added 13 points. Treyson Anderson finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. 
        The game was tied 72-72 with just over two minutes remaining. Noah Feddersen scored a bucket in traffic to give NDSU the lead, then drained a pair of free throws on the next possession. The Bison led 76-72 with one minute left. After an empty possession for the Pioneers, Andy Stefonowicz drained a contested three from the corner late in the shot clock, icing the victory for the Bison with 0:26 left.
 
Against Omaha: Saturday will be the 96th meeting between North Dakota State and Omaha dating back to 1935-36. NDSU has a 59-36 lead in the series. The Bison have won 11 of the last 14 over the Mavs, but Omaha swept both meetings last season.
 
Last Time vs. Omaha: Damari Wheeler-Thomas scored a layup as time expired to lift the Bison to a 78-76 comeback win at Omaha on Jan. 10. Omaha hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 76-76 with 5.7 seconds remaining. Following a timeout, the Bison inbounded and Wheeler-Thomas dribbled the length of the floor to get to the rim for the game-winner.
        NDSU trailed 44-32 at halftime before outscoring Omaha 46-32 in the second half. The Bison shot 69 percent after halftime, including 6-of-12 (50 percent) from three-point range. Sophomore Treyson Anderson led NDSU with 22 points.
 
History: The Bison are 9-0 in The Summit League for the first time in school history.
 
Protect Home Court: NDSU has won 13 straight home games, which is tied for the 14th-longest active streak in the nation.
 
Win Streak: NDSU's current nine-game win streak is tied for the eighth-longest active streak in the country.
 
Road Dubs: NDSU owns eight road wins this season, which is tied for the second-most in the nation. Only Belmont (9-1 on the road) has more.
 
Four-Headed Monster: Entering this week, NDSU's top three scorers are all averaging between 13 and 14 points per game -- Damari Wheeler-Thomas (13.7 ppg), Trevian Carson (13.5 ppg), and Markhi Strickland (13.1 ppg). In league play, Treyson Anderson leads the Bison with 15.0 ppg.
 
Nationally Ranked: Markhi Strickland is ranked 20th in the nation for field goal percentage (61.1%). Trevian Carson is 24th in the country in steals per game (2.25).
 
Efficiency: Noah Feddersen, Trevian Carson, Markhi Strickland and Tay Smith are all shooting 55 percent or better in league play.
 
Sharpshooter: Tay Smith is shooting 54 percent from three-point range (26-of-48) in league play.
 
On Point: Andy Stefonowicz is averaging 4.6 assists per game in league play with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.42.
