Birch Wins Sixth Summit League High Jump Title

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State junior Arienne Birch claimed her sixth Summit League high jump title in six appearances to headline the Bison women's track & field performances on the second day of the Summit League Outdoor Championships Friday.
Birch cleared 5-09.75 (1.77m) to claim her sixth consecutive title in the event – three indoor and three outdoor.
Yolanda Nabwe captured the Summit League heptathlon title, scoring a personal-best 5,308 points to stand at No. 5 on the NDSU all-time list. Nabwe launched a javelin personal-best of 151-1 (46.06m) in the heptathlon, ranking her eighth in NDSU history.
Adison Kapitzke won the Summit League shot put crown, throwing 49-9 (15.16m). Riley Quinn was the runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 49-5 (15.06m).
Paige Halder finished third in the heptathlon, scoring a personal-best 4,886. Sophia Truscott took fifth place with a personal-best 4,798 points.
Rylee Johnson placed third in the high jump, clearing 5-05.75 (1.67m).
NDSU freshman Kylie Nelson finished eighth in the 3,000m steeplechase in 10:50.51.
Five Bison women advanced to the 100m hurdles final. Sydney Arndt was the top qualifier in 13.61, with Marvelous Onwualo (13.70), Jordyn Davis (13.86), Laney Songster (13.94), and Rylee Johnson (14.29) also making the cut.
Paige Renschler (11.49), Anika Larson and Elise Wisnewski all qualified for the 100m dash final.
Reagan Berg was the fastest qualifier to the 800m final in 2:11.99. Reese Rogowski ran 56.60 to qualify for the 400m dash final.
The Summit League Outdoor Championships will conclude Saturday at the Terrence Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex.
