Destin Talbert...Sixth on the team with 55 total tackles...Had one interception and five pass breakups...Returned the interception 23 yards against Western Illinois...Part of a defensive unit that ranked seventh in the FCS and second in the Missouri Valley Football Conference allowing 172.4 passing yards per game...Career-high 10 tackles in the NCAA quarterfinal win over Samford...Named to the MVFC Honor Roll.
2021 SEASON (SOPHOMORE): Started all 15 games at cornerback opposite of
Jayden Price...Credited with 44 total tackles including 2.0 tackles for loss...Third on the team with six passes defended...Recovered a fumble in the red zone against Valparaiso...Season-high five tackles in the season opener against Albany and in the second round of the NCAA playoffs against Southern Illinois...Career-high three pass breakups in the NCAA quarterfinal win over East Tennessee State.
2020-21 SEASON (FRESHMAN): Played six games in a backup role at cornerback...Made three tackles, all solo...Season-high two tackles against South Dakota State...All three of his pass breakups came in the NCAA playoffs against Eastern Washington and Sam Houston State.
HIGH SCHOOL:Â 2020 graduate of Admiral Farragut Academy...Four-year starter...Wide receiver, defensive back and return specialist for coach Rick Kravitz...Team captain his senior year...Had 550 receiving yards and 230 rushing yards his final season along with 23 tackles and three interceptions on defense...Had 2,900 career all-purpose yards and 10 interceptions...Class 2A Player of the Year...Selected to the Florida North-South all-star game...Also participated in track and field.
