2023 SEASON (SOPHOMORE): Played in three home games against Maine, Western Illinois and Murray State...Credited with a half-sack in the win over Western Illinois.

BEFORE NDSU: Spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons at the University of Arizona...Saw action in four games on special teams with the Wildcats...Named to the Pac-12 Honor Roll in 2022.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: 2021 graduate of Batavia High School…Three-year starter for coach Dennis Piron…2021 first team all-state...2021 DuKane Conference Player of the year...2021 Daily Herald and Beacon News Player of the Year...2019 Daily Herald All-Area...Two-time first-team all-conference selection and honorable mention in 2018...Part of the 2017 Class 7A state championship team...Had 195 career tackles, 27 career TFLs with 11.5 sacks, 33 hurries, two pick-sixes, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries...Also the 2017 conference champion in wrestling...Three-time academic all-conference and two-time academic all-state...Also competed in track and field.
 
PERSONAL: Son of Matt and Julie Weerts...Father was a guard at Augustana College in Illinois...Has a sister, Abby, and two brothers, Ben and Luke...Ben Weerts was a quarterback at Wisconsin-La Crosse...Luke Weerts is a linebacker at NDSU...Also has a cousin, Matt Roth, who spent seven seasons in the NFL with the Dolphins, Browns and Jaguars.
