LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) -- Jarrius Jackson scored 26 points -- including 11 of 12 from the foul line -- to lead Texas Tech past North Dakota State 85-81 on Friday night.
Trailing by nine points at halftime, the Bison scored on four of their first five possessions in the second half to whittle their deficit to three, 45-42.
North Dakota State went up by 1 point twice, the last time at 59-58 with 11:51 remaining when Ben Woodside hit a 3-pointer and two free throws. Then Tech pulled ahead for good.
Jackson, who hit all three of his first-half 3-pointers, was quiet in the second half until he sank four free throws and hit field goal to end a 9-2 run that put Tech up 67-61 with 9:35 remaining.
The Bison (1-2) got only two field goals in a five-minute span.
Tech (4-0) led most of the game but the Bison opened the second half solidly. During that span, Tech committed four turnovers.
Brett Winkelman and Mike Nelson scored 19 points each to lead North Dakota State.
Martin Zeno added 20 points for the Red Raiders.
The win gave Bob Knight his 873rd Division I career win. He is three victories shy of Adolph Rupp's 876 at Kentucky. Dean Smith stands at No. 1 with 879 wins.
Tech turned offensive rebounds into 11 second-chance points in the first half. The Red Raiders used a 15-4 run late in the period, with Zeno getting seven of those points, to go up 41-32. Tech led 43-34 at halftime.
