
Bison Use First-Half Run to Cruise Past Texas-Pan American, 88-58

FARGO, N.D. (AP)--Ben Woodside scored 23 points and Brett Winkelman added 21 to lead North Dakota State to an 88-58 win over Texas-Pan American on Thursday.
The Bison (12-6) used a 16-0 run in the first half to pull away from the Broncs (10-9).
The game was tied six times to 17-17 with 12:44 to play in the first half, but the Bison outscored the Broncs 16-0 over the next eight minutes to go up 33-17.
Woodside had 13 points in the first half, which ended with the Bison leading 39-23.
NDSU shot 54 percent from the field in the first half, while Texas-Pan American shot just 29 percent in the first half and made only two of seven 3-point attempts.
The Bison started the second half on a 9-3 run and coasted to the win. NDSU had help from the Broncs, who turned the ball over 24 times leading to 29 points.
Andre Smith scored 19 points and Mike Nelson got his first collegiate double-double with 10 points and 10 assists for NDSU.
Winkelman led the Bison with seven rebounds as NDSU outrebounded Texas-Pan American 36-28.
Texas-Pan American was led by Colin Lien with 15 points and Zach Trader with 12.
The Bison have won six straight games at home to improve to 8-1 on their home court. Their only loss was to Kansas State.
North Dakota State hosts Utah Valley State (13-6) on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Texas-Pan American is at South Dakota State.
UVSC was a 66-54 winner at South Dakota State on Thursday.
