NDSU Soccer Drops 5-1 Contest to Oakland

ROCHESTER, Mich. ? After an early goal for the Bison, Oakland came back to score five unanswered goals to take a 5-1 win in a key Summit League game.  The Bison are now 5-11-2 and 2-4-1 in The Summit League.  Oakland is now 7-8-2 and 6-1-0 in Summit League play.  With the loss, the Bison are mathematically eliminated from making The Summit League Tournament. 

Oakland tested the Bison defense immediately, but goalkeeper Kalani Bertsch was there for the save.

NDSU bounced back to pressure the Oakland defense.  Senior Nicole Rand headed in a long ball from freshman Megan Dean to give the Bison a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute.

Oakland responded when Meghan Hartwig slipped the ball into the net to tie the game at 1-1. 

The Grizzlies took a 2-1 lead on a Jessica Boyle goal in the 16th minute.

Hartwig scored again in the 21st minute to give the Grizzlies a 3-1 lead.  Oakland went up 4-1 when Hartwig made it a hat trick in the 30th minute.

Oakland added a goal in the second half when Boyle got behind the Bison defense.

The Bison play their final regular season game at Western Illinois on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 12 p.m.
