
Woodside Breaks Career Scoring Record in 90-68 Win Over Northern Arizona

FARGO, N.D.--Ben Woodside became North Dakota State's career scoring leader and the Bison pulled away in the second half for a 90-68 victory over Northern Arizona in men's basketball Monday, Dec. 22, before a crowd of 3,110 at the Bison Sports Arena.
Woodside had 24 points and 10 assists for the Bison, who improved to 7-4 overall. He was 7-for-11 from the field and 10-for-12 at the foul line. It was his third collegiate double-double.
Woodside broke Denver TenBroek's six-year-old record of 1,813 points at the 13:10 mark of the second half when he blew past two Northern Arizona defenders for a layup to put NDSU ahead 57-48.
North Dakota State led 43-42 at halftime and the Bison held Northern Arizona (3-8) to 26 points in the second half to pull away.
Michael Tveidt, who scored NDSU's first eight points less than 2 minutes into the game, finished 9-for-9 from the field and made all five of his 3-point attempts to score a career-high 23 points.
Brett Winkelman added 19 points for the Bison, who shot 69 percent in the second half and 65 percent overall. Winkelman moved into a tie with Marv Bachmeier for sixth place on the NDSU scoring list with 1,553 points.
Woodside ran his career total to 1,820 points through 96 career games. He had broken NDSU's career record for free throws made at Northern Arizona in November.
Josh Lepley had 12 points off the bench for NAU. Matt Johnson scored 11 points and Zarko Comagic and Cameron Jones chipped in 10 points apiece for the Lumberjacks.
North Dakota State is off until next Wednesday, Dec. 31, when the Bison return to Summit League play at IPFW. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
