TULSA, Okla.--Zach Wentz and Michael Riewer each homered to lead North Dakota State to an 8-3 victory over Oral Roberts in Summit League baseball Saturday, May 22, at J.L. Johnson Stadium.

North Dakota State ended its season 22-30 overall and 11-16 in The Summit League. Oral Roberts fell to 32-25 overall and 19-9 in the league.

NDSU took a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning when Tim Jallen hit a leadoff single, Tanner Adam reached on an error, and Wentz hit his team-leading seventh homer of the year.

Wentz added an RBI single in the second inning to give NDSU a 4-1 lead, and he finished the game 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored.

Riewer had an RBI single in NDSU's three-run fifth inning to go ahead 7-1, and he hit his fourth homer of the year in the seventh to put the Bison up 8-2.

Riewer was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored, and Jallen finished 3-for-5 in the leadoff spot for NDSU.

Tyler Garewal was 2-for-3 and Brett Sowers was 2-for-5 to lead ORU.

Colby Tognetti, the second of four NDSU pitchers, tossed a scoreless fourth and fifth innings to get the victory and finished the year 3-2. Bison closer Anthony Kliniske pitched a perfect eighth and ninth innings in a non-save situation.

ORU starter Mark Guest dropped to 2-4 with the loss. Guest allowed four runs, two earned, on four hits with no walks and two strikeouts.

North Dakota State played an errorless game on defense and new school records with a .961 fielding percentage, 518 assists and 1,271 putouts. Shortstop Max Casper became NDSU's new single-season record holder for assists with 157.

NDSU also set team records for most triples (21), most times hit by pitch (63), most sacrifice bunts (38) and most innings pitched (423 2/3).

The 22 victories was the most for a Bison team in six years of Division I play and the 10th most wins overall in school history.
