
NDSU Beats James Madison 66-44, Wins Progressive Legends Classic Subregional

PITTSBURGH - Taylor Braun had 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists to lead North Dakota State to a 66-44 win over James Madison in the Progressive Legends Classic on Wednesday, Nov. 21.
It was the fourth straight victory for North Dakota State, which improved to 5-1 on the season and won the Pittsburgh Subregional of the Progressive Legends Classic. James Madision fell to 1-3 overall.
TrayVonn Wright added 12 second-half points for NDSU, which shot 53 percent from the floor and held its opponent to less than 50 points for the fourth time in six regular-season games.
Braun converted a three-point play and a pair of late free throws to give NDSU a 34-24 halftime lead, and he was key again on a seven-point run midway through the second half that broke the game open for good.
NDSU led 37-32 before Braun scored a 3-pointer, got a steal in the frontcourt before feeding Wright for a one-handed dunk, and then converted a leaning jumper to give the Bison a 44-32 edge with 11:11 to go.
James Madison went the final 8 minutes, 28 seconds without a made field goal while NDSU outscored the Dukes 16-6 down the stretch.
Chris Kading blocked two shots on the defensive end and Wright and Marshall Bjorklund had one each. The Bison have blocked at least four shots in all six games this season.
Andre Nation scored 10 points and Alioune Diouf had eight rebounds for the Dukes, who shot 32.6 percent from the floor including 2 of 9 from the 3-point line. NDSU was 8 of 18 from the arc and outrebounded JMU 32-27.
North Dakota State continues its eight-day road trip against Green Bay at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wis.
