NDSU Cross Country Registers Perfect Score in Victory at UND

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota State men's cross country pulled the ultimate team feat on Saturday afternoon at the UND Ron Pynn Invitational, recording a perfect score of 15 points to win the team title. NDSU runners claimed first through fifth place in the eight-kilometer race, with junior Brett Kelly winning the individual title.
Kelly completed the 8k course in 24:54.6 for the victory. Bison junior Lucas DeGree took runner-up honors in 25:27.0, and senior Alec Espeland was third in 25:31.9. Sophomore Brendan Skime (25:35.2) and junior Marty Joyce (25:38.9) completed the scoring in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
UND scored 43 points as the lone Division I opponent for the Bison. The University of Manitoba and Minot State also competed.
Kelly has been the top finisher for NDSU in all four races this season. This was his third top-five finish of the year.
NDSU also claimed the Ron Pynn Invitational title in 2012, scoring 18 points a year ago at Ray Richards Golf Course.
NDSU will compete next at The Summit League Championships, which will be held on Nov. 2 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
